We’re part of a young church. Liberty Crossings United Methodist Church has only been around for 8 years. And we’ve only been in our building around 3 years. Before that we met in homes and worshiped in a school. So don’t worry that you’ll be the “newbie” if you join us. Everyone is pretty new!
We’re open to new people. Yeah, we all have friends that we’re closest to because of sports teams or classes together. But we also love it when we meet new people. If you give us a chance to get to know each other, you’re going to make new friends and find your fit in our group.
We’re United Methodists. We believe in connecting our personal journeys to live for God with social journeys that reflect God’s justice. So we read the Bible, pray, sing, worship and then we look at our world and try to make it a better place through giving our time and resources to people who need help.
We’re not perfect. God has high expectations for how we live our lives. As Methodists, we like to focus on His grace, which means that there is nothing we can do to make Him stop loving us. If He loves us that much then we try to do the same with each other. We all make mistakes. But we’re in the process of becoming more like Jesus, who gave us His life as an example of perfect love.
We’re ecumenical. That means that believe that lots of other Christians are getting it right in other churches so get together with friends who aren’t from our church. We have block parties, play basketball, and have retreats with other groups.
